Terms of Use
Last updated: October 19, 2026
The short version: Cafe Journal is a personal journal app. Your entries and photos stay yours. Be kind and only upload content you have the right to use. Premium is an auto-renewing subscription billed by Apple or Google that you can cancel anytime in your store settings.
These Terms of Use (the "Terms") are a legal agreement between you and Christopher Enriquez, the individual developer of Cafe Journal based in the Philippines ("we", "us" or "our"). They govern your use of the Cafe Journal mobile app for iOS and Android (the "App") and the website cafejournalapp.com (together, the "Service"), and they act as the end user license agreement (EULA) for the App. By downloading, accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 in the EEA and UK, or the minimum age required in your country) to use the Service. If you are under the age of legal majority where you live, you may use the Service only with the permission of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to these Terms.
2. Your account
You sign in with Apple or Google. You are responsible for keeping access to that account secure and for everything that happens under your Cafe Journal account. Tell us right away at cafejournalapp@gmail.com if you think your account has been used without your permission. You can delete your account at any time in the App under Menu › Account › Delete account, or by requesting deletion on our website.
3. Your content
"Your Content" means the journal entries, text, ratings, photos, logos and other material you add to the App. You own Your Content. You give us a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, process and display Your Content solely to operate the Service for you (for example, to save your journal, sync it to your devices and render images when you tap Share). This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies in backups that are deleted on their normal schedule.
You are responsible for Your Content and confirm that you have the rights needed to upload it, and that it does not violate these Terms or any law. Your journal is private by default; it is only seen by others if you choose to share it.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- upload content that is illegal, sexually explicit involving minors, harassing, hateful, or that infringes someone else's copyright, trademark, privacy or other rights;
- use the Service to harm, threaten or impersonate others;
- copy, modify, distribute, sell or lease any part of the Service, or reverse engineer or try to extract its source code, except where the law allows it;
- interfere with or disrupt the Service, try to gain unauthorized access to it or to other users' data, or use bots or scrapers on it;
- click on ads fraudulently or otherwise abuse the advertising in the App;
- use the Service for any purpose that is unlawful or not permitted by these Terms.
We may remove content or suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
5. Cafe Journal Premium (subscriptions)
The App is free to download and use, with ads. Cafe Journal Premium is an optional paid subscription that removes ads, unlocks every sticker pack, and lets you add up to 10 photos to each memory instead of 3. Premium is offered as an auto-renewing subscription with two options:
- Premium Monthly: renews every 1 month.
- Premium Yearly: renews every 1 year.
The price for your country, including any taxes, is shown in the App and on the App Store or Google Play purchase screen before you buy.
- Payment. Payment is charged to your Apple ID or Google Play account when you confirm the purchase.
- Auto-renewal. Your subscription automatically renews at the same price and for the same period unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Free trials and offers. If a free trial or introductory offer is ever offered, its terms are shown before you buy. A free trial converts to a paid subscription when it ends unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, and any unused part of a trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
- Managing and cancelling. You can manage or cancel your subscription anytime in your account settings: on iPhone, Settings › [your name] › Subscriptions; on Android, Google Play › Profile › Payments & subscriptions › Subscriptions. You can also open these from the App's Membership screen. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep Premium until the end of the period you've paid for.
- Deleting the App or your account does not cancel your subscription. Please cancel it in your store settings.
- Refunds. Purchases are handled by Apple or Google, and refunds are subject to their policies. Request a refund from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com or from Google Play.
- Restore purchases. Premium is linked to your Cafe Journal account. Use "Restore purchases" in the App to restore it on a new device.
- Price changes. If the price changes, you'll be notified in advance as required by Apple or Google, and you can cancel before the new price applies.
6. Advertising
The free version of the App shows ads provided by third parties, such as Google AdMob. We are not responsible for the content of ads or for the products and services they promote, and any dealings you have with advertisers are between you and them. See our Privacy Policy for how ads use data.
7. Our intellectual property
The Service, including its design, code, stickers, illustrations, mascots, fonts, logos and the "Cafe Journal" name, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download and use the App on devices you own or control, for your personal, non-commercial use. You may share journal pages you create with the App's stickers for personal, non-commercial purposes (for example, on your social media), but you may not extract, sell or redistribute the stickers or other App assets on their own.
If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them without any obligation to you.
8. Third-party services
The Service relies on third-party services such as Apple and Google sign-in, the App Store, Google Play, and the share sheet on your device. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies, and we are not responsible for them.
9. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service. If we discontinue the Service, we will try to give you reasonable notice. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including 3, 7, 10, 11, 12 and 14) will survive.
10. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure, or that your content will never be lost. Please keep your own copies of photos that matter to you.
Cafe names, locations, prices and ratings in your journal are entered by you and are not verified or endorsed by us. Cafe Journal is not affiliated with any cafe you record.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or USD 50.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions or liability limits, so some of the above may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be waived.
12. Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, damages and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from Your Content or your violation of these Terms or of anyone else's rights.
13. Changes to the Service and these Terms
We may update the Service and these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes to the Terms, we'll post the new version here, update the effective date, and notify you in the App. Your continued use of the Service after the changes take effect means you accept them.
14. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of the Philippines, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and disputes will be resolved by the competent courts of the Philippines. Before filing a claim, please contact us so we can try to resolve the issue informally. If you are a consumer living in the EU, UK or another country whose laws give you the right to bring a claim in your local courts, nothing in these Terms takes away that right.
15. Apple App Store terms
If you downloaded the App from the Apple App Store, the following also applies:
- These Terms are between you and us only, not Apple. We, not Apple, are solely responsible for the App and its content. For questions, complaints or claims about the App, contact us at cafejournalapp@gmail.com.
- Your license to use the App is limited to use on Apple-branded products you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support services for the App.
- If the App fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any) for the App. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the App.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims by you or a third party relating to the App, including product liability claims, claims that the App fails to conform to legal or regulatory requirements, and consumer protection or privacy claims.
- If a third party claims that the App or your use of it infringes their intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, are responsible for investigating, defending, settling and discharging that claim.
- You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- You must comply with any applicable third-party terms when using the App.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and, once you accept them, Apple has the right to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.
Where these Terms do not cover something, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies.
16. Google Play terms
If you downloaded the App from Google Play, you also agree to the Google Play Terms of Service. Google is not responsible for the App or its content.
